How to Start
Thank you for your interest in our rescue dogs. We are located in Houston, Texas, We transport every 2-3 weeks to Connecticut, New York, (other places too) Seattle, and the Pacific Northwest to help these animals find their forever homes.
The adoption process is straightforward. Start by filling out our dog application form or our cat application form. Providing a complete and detailed application will increase your chances of adopting the dog you are interested in. If your application is pre-approved, you will receive a text message within 1-3 days.
Application Review
Upon approval, we will schedule a video call with you. This call will allow you to meet the dog and also enable us to conduct a home check to ensure it is a safe and suitable environment. To facilitate this process, we will utilize Facebook Messenger for the video call. Before submitting your application, please ensure that you are aware of and agree to the adoption fees associated with our rescue group. As a small group of volunteers, we may be unable to provide individual status updates due to the large volume of applications and inquiries we receive. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Thank you for considering adoption and for your interest in our rescue dogs.Together, we can make a difference in their lives.
Please be patient. Our organization is manned completely by volunteers and most of them work full-time. If you aren’t contacted within 48 hours after submitting the application, please contact us at info@dandaanimalrescue.org requesting the status of your application.
Please note that the adoption application and the adoption contract are separate documents. The adoption contract will be signed at the time you take possession of the dog.
Adoption Criteria
At D and A Animal Rescue, we believe in ensuring the well-being and long-term happiness of the animals in our care. That is why we have established a criteria that potential pet adopters must meet before adopting from us. We carefully assess each applicant to ensure they can provide a loving and responsible home for their future companion. Our criteria may include factors such as the applicant’s living situation, availability of time and resources to care for a pet, willingness to provide necessary veterinary care, and a commitment to training and socialization. By setting these standards, we strive to find the best possible matches between our animals and their new families, ensuring a lifetime of love and happiness for both parties involved.

Applicant must be a responsible adult.

A secure fenced yard is preferred although not a requirement.

Renters (apartment, house, condo or town-home) must have the permission of the landlord/management and may be required to show proof pet deposit has been paid.

Applicant must have the time, energy and financial capability to support a D and A Animal Rescue dog.

Adoptions outside the greater Houston area are greatly considered – please email photos of home and yard to info@dandaanimalrescue.org
